When we talk about certifications in the infosec field, there are loads of different types to look at. It can look daunting at first and it's easy to miss what's the best ethical hacking certification for you — especially when you're starting out! So to help you with that, I'm going to break down some of the most common certs, and which ones apply to specific hacking roles that you may want to get into.Certifications are all the rage these days — but with so many out there, it can be hard to figure out what's necessary and what you can do without. What's even more confusing is that most of these certifications are designed to be part of a bigger puzzle — and you have to have a specific certification in order to get another. Well, never fear! I'm here to help you understand the different kind of ethical hacking certifications and how they fit together from my experience as a recruiter in the cybersecurity industry.

This article is a mixture of educational and personal opinions on how to become an ethical hacker. I've been in the infosec industry for about seven years now, and my experience is that it's not always as straightforward as getting a certification.

Certifications come in all shapes, sizes, and types these days. In fact, there are so many that it can be difficult to know where to start. Another challenge is figuring out which ones are most relevant to your particular cybersecurity specialisation.Certifying yourself as an ethical hacker is pretty important in the cybersecurity world. Regardless of what area you work in, or which company you work for, ethical hacking even helps with penetration testing — which is something just about everyone who works in the field will have to do at some point.
